River’s Rest Marina & Resort is a 16.5 acre family-friendly travel destination located in Charles City, Virginia on the beautiful Chickahominy River. River’s Rest offers guest the convenience of a 68-boat slip marina with a boat launch and bait and tackle store on site. Our exclusively-seasonal 126 RV and Tiny Home sites offer adventurers easy access to a waterfront getaway. Life on the river has never been closer!
Chickahominy History.
The Chickahominy were Native Americans numbering approximately 1,500 at the beginning of the 17th Century. English arrived . They lived on either side of the Chickahominy River, which provided both protection and food. They farmed for food in the summer and fall, and hunted, fished, and gathered for other parts of the year. According to anthropologist, William Wallace Tooker, "Chickahominy" translates to "People of the Coarse Pounded Corn."
